I would like to hear from owners who have successfully installed an autopilot on their Newport. I have a Mark II, "Ida Lewis", wheel steering, poor tracking, huge weather helm in the SF Bay gusts, and a tiny budget. Would just like something to help out singlehanding on the bay. There are used 3000 and 4000 units out there, and some have suggested that the 3000 is a more reliable unit. Any observations?

Did anyone repower his Newport 30 with a Yanmar 2 GM20F, and if so how did you managed the 3 inches difference in height between Yanmar and previous Atomic. Thanking you in advance Sylvain Massicotte
