Main Bulkhead/mast comprression post problems

We are experiencing some serious problems with the main bulkhead. It has broken loose from the hull. We know how to re-glass it and plan to install larger bolts, but the problem is the cabin sides have bulged out so there's about a 3/4 inch gap on either side of the bulkhead. Part of the problem might be that the compression post under the mast appears to have "settled." The symptom is the hole for the slide bolt on the head door is about 3/8" lower than it should be. We've had several boat guys look at it and have several different "cures." An additonal problem is that the port bulkhead appears to be contructed out of two pieces of plywood. There is a seam which has opened up just outside of where the port chainplate is attached. Any comments/ideas about fixes would be welcome. Also, any visits to boats where these problems have been corrected so we can see what was done.
