Hi Bob,
This is my first time on this site. I'm a Newport 30-II owner in San Diego. The last couple of weekends, Liz and I painted our rub rail on our '78 model using Nicro Fico spray paint. We have done this before on a Coronado 41 that we used to live aboard. The paint will last a long time. The only gotcha is that the rub rails tend to shrink after you take them off. I had to use a pair of vice grips to grab the end, with a loop of line through the vice grips and around my waist, and then pull with my legs against the transom to stretch it out while Liz found the screw holes from the bottom of the rail.
