Bummer! There is a lot of support for the Anemic4 on the web, try Cruising World with a search. You can check to see if it's rings or valves by squirting oil in the cylinders and then checking to see if the compression goes up a lot. If it does you need rings. If it is just valves, you could pull the head and have it redone for ~400-500. I ripped one out once and put in a diesel. Best thing I ever did for the boat. It'll cost you ~6-8k by the time you are done. prop, shaft, fabricate new bed, oil/water filter, and of cource the engine. 10 to 14 hp should be enough.
